RP Unicorn Planning & Development Ltd. is a small, independent Vancouver-based firm that delivers the following core services to private investors, development companies, project management firms and government agencies:
Rob Thompson, MA, MCIP, RPP is the principal of the firm and has over 35 years of experience as a Development Manager, Planner, Municipal Manager, and Project Manager. He is a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) and has been a full member of the Planning Institute of BC and the Canadian Institute of Planners since 1996. He was also a member of the Local Government Management Association of BC from 2010 to 2012.
Rob’s professional assignments include serving as the Acting Director of the Planning & Development Services Department for the City of White Rock in 2008, as the Director of the Engineering & Municipal Operations Department for the City of White Rock from 2010 to 2012, as a Planner I – II/Project Manager with the City of Surrey Planning and Engineering Departments from 1993 to 2004, and as a private sector development manager, project manager, and planning consultant from 2004 to the present time.
Through his work in both the public and private sectors, Rob is well-known to City staff in many of the jurisdictions in southwestern BC, and is very familiar with their planning processes and development approval requirements.
